An End and a Beginning

You are currently viewing An End and a Beginning

For four years, the American people have been lured into a world of promise only to meet those assurances with disappointment. No jobs and no vaccine but, yes, a wall politically built to further divide the American people. We are now left with a remnant of a second Civil War and a COVID health crisis. People are frightened and worried and are seeking comfort and resolve.

Let us start a new day. Let us not follow our own reflection but begin to look at others and see and feel their pain. Let us all begin to heal. Sometimes it hurts being a part of history but, if we live long enough, we inevitably become part of it. Yes, we are left scarred from the threat to our democracy and our decency. The attacks are undoubtedly not over but, with true leadership that spues no false promises and gives it to us straight on, we will begin to heal and trust again.

It is a good day for “House” cleaning. Welcome Joe, we have been waiting for you!

Healing a Broken Land

I am not country and not quite city

I enjoy both the mountains and the beach

But it seems I am in a position to have to decide

Whether to hate or whether to live in peace

You see, I am not black, and not quite all white

I am not brilliant, but I think I am smart

Not so tall but not quite short

It seems I have a choice to be made from my very own heart

I am not quite angry

But I am also not contented

Having to make the choice

To build a wall of hate or a bridge to peace and contentment

Once again, we must choose between reality and wishes

And meet at the juncture where fear is sometimes used as a tool

Where it comes down to angry walls or peaceful bridges

Choosing whether to select peace, to love, or to let hate rule.
